hi. Is someone able to create their own website? do I have to pay for it? is it posible the site goes down if i don't mantain it within a period of time or don't get enough visits dayly? thanks, Lou.
You sure can. There's both payed and free web space. I think blindvi or someone may be able to help you out more as she and others are more familiar with this sort of thing.

well, as far as i know you have the free option if you create in a website that hosts files. So it would have to be like http://www.licos.users.com/webpage4598798-879854642?curbox=254eewwwD-DSSASD4684879895312/users/IDS/547987965462135987/lou.html
or something like that, in other words, a bunch of numbers and letters to acces your website, but I am referring about like www.tts-123.com, or an original nickname, without have to going into another site to open yours... but well, thanks anyway
Hello, yes you can make your Web site, and yes there are free and paid. The free one that comes to mind is http://www.web1000.com and your Web address would be: http://www.web1000.com/WhatEverNicYouChoose Plus you can do redirects if that isn't short enough. The paid one I would recommend is $10 US a month for the best package. The address is: http://www.ultrahost.us It's the one I use. My site isn't currently up because I'm redoing it. No your site doesn't get taken down if you don't update it within a certain amount of time; unless the company goes out of business, or decides to quit offering your specific plan. However, to keep getting visiters it is recommended that you updated at least every now and then. Also, check with your ISP. They quite often give free Web space. I'm on Adelphia, and they do, though I don't personally prefer using it. If you want help in learning HTML you can let me know here or message me privately and we can talk more on it. There are many different ways to learn. And I'll be glad to help in every way I possibly can. I'm a Web designer and programmer myself.
Yeah, if you want a www.blah.com one, you have to pay for that part of it, if not for the hosting. So if you want a simple one, even a redirect, you have to pay for that. Am I right?

Yup Lycos has (if I can remember) two types of web servers. Tripod (not familiar with.) and Angelfire. I'm with angelfire and you can sign up for a account for free, and or pay for a account. From angelfire you get 25 mb of space, FTP tools, and a choice of basic web page building or if you're like me, do the more advance and get a blank page to build your site to your liking. I gotta warn you though Lycos has put 2 ads up on all of their pages both on the top and on the bottom. And as always if you're not building the site and someone else is, have that person back up their work on a disk. Because I have seen one person be removed because they were listed on google but abused their rankings (some kind of tool so that their ranks would show up on the first page.) and this person didn't save her work and the person who built that site for her lost everything.
If you would like to see what my site looks like and also get ideas for what kind of features you want go to my website and check it out:
Blindvi's website
welll I would like to know, one of the things you did there, how could you don{t put the url, just put blindvi“s website_
The free one I recommended only sometimes puts an advertisement on the very bottom of the Web page, and at that it's a very small one. And for Web tutorials I would suggest checking out: Blind Programming</A> This is a site that has more then tutorials for teaching HTML. That's where I've gotten my VB6 tutorials as well. And there is much much more there. And the Code for doing a link without showing the URL is: (Text you want it to read) Hope that showed up right. If not I'll try again.
And it didn't so here it goes. With the code below take out the . (periods) before using it. <.a href="Page URL">Link Text Here <./a>
I tried Tripod and I hated it, completely inaccessible. Same with Freewebs.

Actually, freewebs isn't that bad, I've attempted it and was mostly satisfied. The only problem I've had with it is insering links and stuff into paragraphs. There are buttons you have to press in order to do this but whenever I press them the field that's supposed to come up doesn't and I'm told the button is unavailable. Grrr! Now I'm looking for a website that is free, has one of those site builder thingys (I don't know much html) and doesn't have one of those verification codes you have to fill in when you sign up. (most of the free webhosts I've come upon have one of those.) I'm planning on using the site to discuss my podcast and related topics and want something that I can do more with than the blogs I've been using up till now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
